RE: iNotes performance considerations

iNotes Web Access 6.0.1 Windows 2000

I am in week #3 of an Exchange-to-Lotus migration (450 users done so far, spread across two servers) and tried iNotes on a few workstations with rather disappointing performance results. My main server is is an IBM RS6000/p660 quad cpu (750MHz each 64-bit copper risc chips, roughly equivalent horsepower to about a P4 1.8-2GHz each cpu chip) 4GB memory and an SSA raid array for disks. Gigabit ethernet server backbone to Cisco Catalyst switches and 100Mbps switched fast ethernet to the desktops. On a Celeron 2.0GHz desktop with 128MB memory, Win 2K and IE6, iNotes proved so frustratingly slow that we just gave up and put the full client on the workstations instead. I had really hoped to be able to use iNotes on my lowest power workstations (like 300MHz, 64MB, NT4, etc) but from what I've seen, iNotes just doesn't cut the mustard. Plain Notes webmail access works blindingly fast however, but apply the iNotes template on the same mail database, and speed goes to heck in a handbasket. This has been my experience testing just *one* iNotes client at a time. If there's some magic tuning that can be done, I'd love to hear about it, because I have a lot of slow workstations (300-400MHz range) that the full client is hard for them to handle too.
